Environmental Monitoring & Control
Historic venues make great film and TV locations, and filming can provide venues with valuable income and publicity.
Spencer & Fry understands the restrictions of the historic properties, as well as the needs of a production crew. Working in partnership with venue staff and location managers, we negotiate ways of making sure the shoot is a rewarding experience for all and doesn’t damage historically important interiors and objects.
Film productions include: Transformers: The Last Knight, Victoria and Abdul, Crooked House Wonder Womanand Phantom Thread.
TV productions include: The Crown(Netflix), Royal Recipes (BBC), Taboo(BBC), Action Team(ITV), and Trust(FX).
One of the challenges in caring for historic objects and collections can often be found in the environment they are housed in but at Spencer & Fry we understand that improving conditions in historic buildings can also be a considerable challenge.
Our team focus on assessing and monitoring environments, understanding current conditions and restrictions and working on pragmatic and workable solutions to help create the optimum conditions for objects and collections contained in those environments. Specifically, we assess variables like temperature, humidity, light and UV and look to monitor, regulate and control these to maximise the conditions for preservation.
Clients that we have worked with include:
Royal Holloway Picture Gallery.
